Easy ways to get Home Active

Easy ways to get-active at home

Home Active Physiotherapy prides itself on taking a proactive approach to injury and illness, emphasising evidence-based preventative exercises in order to improve your health and wellbeing. Here are out top four tips to building a healthy mind and body.

Plan your exercise: “I’ll exercise this week” is very vague, and leaves lots of room for you to push it out until all of a sudden it is the next week. Plan your exercise down to the hour, setting the expectation that you will exercise at a certain time. “I’ll exercise at 11am on Tuesday” will make you far more accountable than “I’ll exercise this week”.

Turn mundane activities into exercise: why not use the dead time while the kettle boils to do some heel raises, or do squats while waiting for the toaster? A common excuse for not exercising is that there isn’t enough time, however there is plenty of waiting time during the day where exercise can find a place. Every little bit counts.

Create a space for exercise: association is an important way that we learn and remember things. If you have a certain place in your home where you exercise, your brain will eventually associate that space with exercise, keeping it fresh in your mind.

Don’t sleep on sleep: sleep plays a vital role in our physical and mental health. Sleep plays an important role in healing. A poor night’s sleep can impair recovery from injury, and is also correlated with increased pain sensitivity.
